Bruno readers: please read this Bruno news.(there is a strip today below all this, but please do read it.)At the moment, as far as Bruno goes, I plan to continue it indefinitely. Life may twist and turn, and my choice to discontinue it may come one day, but for now I am more excited than ever about the strip (well, I WAS pretty excited about Stanley and the circus, but the excitement is definately comparable). So yes, you're probably all wondering about book#5, well, it is almost ready. If it keeps going how it's going it will likely go to press late this month, which means a late july-ish release. But I wouldn't bank on it, as I was previously hoping it would be out in April, obstacles just seem to get in the way. Brunozebd (Bruno in French) is now running again, translated by the wonderful Naomi Lipson-Korenfeld. the link is at the bottom of the page. (concerning this next section, "helen" has been pulled) Peter Zale's "Helen" book and mouse pad will be being pulled from the MoodyCow store on Sunday, May 7th. Peter is doing extremely well, including being now syndicated and being publishing by McGraw-Hill, that new book (with some material the same, and some changed, and some new) is due out June 12th. You can pre-order it from Amazon.com. But for now, get the MoodyCow "Helen" while they last, they may end up being a collector's item.... well... you know, who knows... So now onto how you all can support the effort of keeping Bruno going. First, I have added to the MoodyCow page the ability to "patron" bruno. For $6.00 (or more if you wish, please do) I will be listing patrons, yes your name, in the printed books, starting with book#6 (which will be the strips from this current year). Second, of course, is to simply buy the books and merchandise. That is extremely helpful, and plus how else can you get my mom's lasagna recipe? Or the blue-print design of Stanley's house? Or now, coming up, "the road trip diary"? Third, is that I have submited another strip called "Sheppard and May" to TribuneMedia (yes, the cute kids drawn above). It is much more "digestable" to the public, but I believe still really interesting. This month (starting today 5/1) they will be running it on their web page comicsedge.com as a test-marketing thing. So if they get a huge response, they may consider picking it up for syndication; and so by visiting, reading, voting, and writing to their "discussions" page, you can help me financially so that I can quit my day job (yay) and focus on art (read: Bruno). The reasons I believe this new strip will not interfere with doing Bruno, is that I simply have a passion to keep Bruno going. Plus, the characters and styles are so different, and as well whenever I want/need to deal with "real" issues, I'll need a "real" oulet (again, read: Bruno). Fourth, of course I have to mention, is that I do commisions as well. See work I've done at hobbies, this can normally be accessed from the "hobbies" link on the main Bruno page or the gallery page off of the home page. And now onto other (interesting, but less important I suppose) news.... My life, I traveled the U.S. from August of 1999 'til February of 2000, visiting many MANY of my readers (my apologies again to those to whom our meeting didn't work out for whatever reason). It was great, and everyone was kind and wonderful. I have written much more on it in the upcoming book#5, but I just wanted to say that it was a inspiring experience, and I am now safe in Portland and enjoying the beauty I see outside my window (well, you know, I go out every once-in-a-while, I've just been rather busy). Currently you can as well see some random cat sketches I've done as freelance for eastgate. Hope you all continue to enjoy the strip. I've been putting a lot of time into her soon-to-move to Portland, and i hope it's as beautiful and exciting as I envision it. my best, -christopher |
